Cancord has been a member of the CSA technical committee on fall protection for over 20 years. We have thousands of hours of research and testing invested in our selection of lifelines. Our Polysteel® Safety Lines represent one of several different lifelines we manufacture. Here are just some of the reasons they represent a good value choice as a safety line:
- 5/8” Safety Line has a minimum breaking strength of 9000lb
- Excellent UV resistance
- Does not absorb water
- CSA Certified
- Soft/durable/not slippery
- Will not harden with age
- Resistant to rot & mildew
- Develops a feathered surface which helps protect against abrasion
- Very resistant to acids and alkalis
Polysteel® ropes are produced on a unique state of the art computerized production line which monitors all aspects of the manufacturing process to extremely tight tolerances. The result is a rope of unsurpassed quality and consistency. Polysteel ropes are manufactured from extruded co-polymer (polypropylene and polyethylene) fibers whose unique properties result in ropes that, size for size, have significantly higher strength than conventional polypropylene rope.
Polysteel ropes have very good resistance to rot and mildew, acids and alkalis. In addition, Polysteel rope will not harden with age, does not lose strength from either wetness or drying, and has very low elongation. The abrasion resistance of Polysteel rope is also notably superior to polypropylene rope.
While unused Polysteel lines have a slightly stiff feeling, they rapidly become highly pliable when placed in service. After only a short time in use, the rope will develop a surface “fuzz” which makes for a silky feel and excellent handling characteristics. This is a great improvement over polypropylene which tends to be coarse and slippery when handling.
Amazingly, Polysteel ropes are only marginally more expensive than polypropylene, making them a hands down choice for anyone who requires a highly superior product without a significant increase in price.
